WE DARED 10 PEOPLE TO TRY OUR JUMPSUITS. HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED.

WE DARED 10 PEOPLE TO TRY OUR JUMPSUITS. HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED.

It happens in our Portland store all the time: a customer swears coveralls and jumpsuits aren't for them, we dare them to try one on anyway, and by the time they're at the mirror, they don't want to take it off.

So we set out to prove it. We invited ten people into the store, some who'd never worn a coverall and were a little nervous about it, others who already live in them and were curious to try something new,  and dared each of them to put one on and be honest about what they saw in the mirror.

Here's what happened.

Meet the Styles

The Essential High Waisted Coverall: Stretch cotton with a high-rise waist, elastic back waistband, and functional pockets, inspired by classic utility workwear but built to move with you all day. Available in sizes XS–4X.

The Essential Jumpsuit: Lightweight cotton, adjustable sleeves, convertible cuffs, and real pockets, with everyday tailoring inspired by our bestselling button-up and trousers. Sizes XS–4X. A comfortable cotton jumpsuit that takes the guesswork out of getting dressed.

The Empower Jumpsuit: Soft, drapey suiting fabric, a relaxed wide-leg silhouette, menswear-inspired pinstripes, and a removable neck bow. Sizes XS–4X. Tailored enough for a meeting, comfortable enough for everything after.

The Reactions

Beach: "I thought jumpsuits weren't for me."

Wore: The Essential Jumpsuit

Beach walked in carrying the hesitation we hear almost every day.

"I didn't think jumpsuits were for me at all. I had a lot of excuses — I'm too old for this, I don't have any fashion sense, I'm not the kind of person that should be in fashion."

Then came the mirror.

"I was truly shocked…I feel comfortable…and I also feel like I'm a little dressed up, which I didn't expect either, so I feel very surprised."

What surprised her wasn't just the look, it was the comfort and how it moved. The stretch cotton moved easily, felt soft instead of stiff, and never felt restrictive.

"When I move around in this, I feel no restriction in any way…You want to see my moves?"

And the fabric sealed the deal. "I thought it would be rough and scratchy... it kind of feels like a blanket."

Her advice for anyone talking themselves out of it: "Just try it. You'll be surprised, just as I was."

Fiona: “You can just throw them on…and are ready to go”

Wore: The Essential High-Waisted Coverall

Fiona didn't need convincing on jumpsuits, she already understood their biggest advantage.

"That's why jumpsuits are so great — you kind of don't need to style them. You can just throw them on and you are dressed, and have a look, and are ready to go."

The Essential High-Waisted Coverall delivered exactly that. No figuring out which top goes with which pants. No standing in front of the closet. Zip up, add shoes, go.

And the reaction in the mirror wasn't subtle.

"I felt like a baddie."

Her take on who coveralls are for: "I'm a normal human being, and they're great."

Ciara P.: "I feel like my whole life is together."

Wore: The Empower Jumpsuit

Some clothes change your outfit. Some change your posture. Ciara says Wildfang jumpsuits do something else entirely.

"Whenever I put on a Wildfang jumpsuit, I feel like my whole life is together. I kind of feel more badass going through my day."

For Ciara, confidence comes from not having to choose between looking polished and feeling comfortable. The jumpsuit looked tailored without needing alterations, and moved easily from work to dinner. Sneakers, boots, or heels, all the same piece

"It feels tailored... but I don't have to have it altered. I can wear my kicks with it. I can wear my boots."

She even told us about her sister, who insisted jumpsuits weren't for her, until Ciara sent her one anyway. Now it's one of her favorite things to wear.

"Now it's one of her favorite things to wear. Her whole visage changes when she puts it on."

For Ciara, that's the magic of finding the right jumpsuit. It doesn't just change your outfit—it changes how you carry yourself.

"We get stuck in a rut in fashion... but there's always something else that could level you up. People might not see it coming. Why not? Life's short, look amazing."

Ciara: "It's like a tiny home."

Wore: The Empower Jumpsuit

Ciara has worn coveralls, overalls, and jumpsuits before, but this silhouette was new territory, one that worked just as well styled femme or masc.

"I thought, damn, when I looked in the mirror."

What surprised her was the structure.

"I thought it was gonna feel a lot like loosey-goosey, but it actually feels really structured." And the versatility. "It's a bunch of different outfits... it feels all-purpose." She was already planning it two ways, light for a muggy afternoon, layered with a hoodie come winter.

"It's like a tiny home. You're surprised by how many things it can do."

Molly : “I instantly smiled”

Wore: The Essential Jumpsuit

Molly's first surprise happened before she even put it on. She expected something stiff and heavy.

"I thought it was going to be more utilitarian... a little harder. It was so soft to touch."

Once she had it on, the surprises kept coming.

"My first reaction was this is more flattering than I thought it was going to look on me. I instantly smiled."

She loved the details — the weight of the fabric, the size of the buttons — and was already planning outfits around it, sneakers for a casual day, heels for later.

"I'm gonna either wear this with my tennies, casual, to go shopping, or maybe put on a little elevated shoe and rock this to the cocktail party later on."

Aidan: "I think I look cool”

Wore: The Empower Jumpsuit

Aidan worried the proportions wouldn't work. With long legs, and a shorter torso, one-pieces hadn't always cooperated. Instead:

"Wait... this actually is very complementary to my shape…I think I look cool."

And it held up to real movement. “It feels really airy…I feel really comfortable, and, I could run a marathon, but also I could go to a banquet”

Asked what they'd tell someone who thought they couldn't wear a jumpsuit: "Try it... everything looks different on everyone, but that's kind of what makes it awesome."

Em: "I look really good."

Wore: The Essential High-Waisted Coverall

Coveralls are already part of Em's everyday look — it was the details that sold her on this one. Finding a one-piece that fits a long torso isn't always easy. This one did.

"I have a long torso... this feels perfect."

She noticed the sturdy fabric and the ease of movement, and passed the required dressing-room squat test.

"The fabric feels really sturdy. It feels like I can move in it, and work in it, and do stuff in it."

Her verdict, once she looked in the mirror: "My first reaction is that I look really good. Comfortable, but put together — casual, chill."

Tomma: "It's a power suit."

Wore: The Empower Jumpsuit

Tomma has a dozen jumpsuits in her closet, but this one surprised her.

"This one feels very professional. It feels like a power suit..it moves really well. I just feel real grown up and pro.""

The fit, polished tailoring, and elevated hardware made it feel equally appropriate for business meetings, drinks after work, or going out to dinner.

"This feels more elevated, more exciting. And the fit is just so nice — it doesn't get too tight through the middle." Even getting dressed felt lighter. "Because it's a little more flexible and a little looser, it goes right on and right off."

For Tomma, the real win was the ease it brought to getting ready.

"It's so nice to get dressed in the morning and not have to think about a whole ou

Caesarea: "Do it while you're scared."

Wore: The Essential Jumpsuit

Caesarea almost talked herself out of trying it on. With a shorter torso and higher hips, she worried the dropped waist wouldn't work on her body.

Then she looked in the mirror.

"I feel like a little tall shot glass of wine right now — it's amazing. I see the vision here. This is actually really nice."

It didn't hurt that the details were exactly her style — adjustable sleeve buttons, a coin pocket, a rich merlot color.

Asked what she'd say to someone convinced jumpsuits weren't for them, she gave us the line of the day:

"Do it while you're scared. That's what bravery is."

Her bottom line: "If you love it, wear it."

The Challenge Results

Everyone who walked in found something unexpected once they tried their jumpsuit on. Some discovered a fit that finally worked for their proportions. Others found a style that felt more like them than they expected - more polished, more comfortable, more them.

No one was trying to look like someone else. They were just seeing themselves differently.

Four things came up again and again:

  • It's the whole outfit. One piece, and you're dressed — no styling required.

  • It's easy. Fewer decisions to make, faster to get ready.

  • It looks good. Every single person was surprised by their own reflection.

  • Confidence. Not one person left feeling the same way they walked in.

That's the thing about a great jumpsuit or coverall: it doesn't ask you to change who you are. It simply takes one less decision out of your day while helping you feel a little more like yourself.

We didn't set out to prove that everyone should wear a jumpsuit. We wanted to see what would happen if people gave themselves permission to try.

Turns out, the mirror handled the rest.

So if you've been waiting for a sign, this is it. We double dog dare you to try one on.
